People need to be shown love. A Christian's heart and mind are in the right place from the start - their new-found love for the things of God gives them the spiritual desire to show others love. The problem is that we don't allow "our hearts to guide our hands" through the physical act of serving others. We can be the best in all these other areas, why not through serving?

2 Corinthians 8:10-12
10 So here’s what I think: The best thing you can do right now is to finish what you started last year and not let those good intentions grow stale.11 Your heart’s been in the right place all along. You’ve got what it takes to finish it up, so go to it.12 Once the commitment is clear, you do what you can, not what you can’t. The heart regulates the hands.
