Holy Ground

We leave later this afternoon to take 4th-6th graders to winter camp. The theme revolves around being "bold". The key verse is from: Joshua.

Some time ago I read a book by Mark Batterson that challenged us as believers to stop praying "Lord, keep us safe!" but instead "Lord, make us brave!".

And, that's what I see in the stories of Joshua. A man who followed after a leader first to learn obedience to God's instruction. Then, when he was called to lead, all of his training as a soldier and all his experiences being brave and bold prepared him for Jericho.

I love the passage where the Commander of God's army--sword in his hand--admonishes Joshua to take off his sandals. "This is holy ground." Joshua obeys.

Today--maybe it's a stretch and maybe my theology is fuzzy--if Christ and His power dwell within believers by the Holy Spirit...are we not standing on holy ground? Are we not equipped for battle? Are we not empowered to be brave and bold as we obey the purposes God has for us?

Was that a trumpet blasting?
