new to the faith...

When I first came across Jeremiah 45 I was kinda happy because it was so short:). All the books in Jeremiah are so long and sometimes drag on for me, but just being shallow I was excited to read a short chapter...

As I began to search this shorter chapter I learned that Baruch, even though he was Jeremiah's right hand man, he was a new believer. And so all this stuff happening was discouraging to Baruch. As well it can be, right?

Remember when you first began your relationship with Jesus? You are all fired up about Jesus and then you come across some other "older" believers and you are SHOCKED and APPALLED that they could think or act in a way so opposite to what God has for each of us.

Well, that is Baruch and a good reminder for each of us. Following Jesus, whether we are new to the faith or not, can be discouraging. Especially to new believers. They are just finding their way and are much more easily discouraged (as they should be). Only natural.

SO, who do we know that is new to the faith and has had some discouraging things happen to them? Should we circle back to them to help them on their way? I would say yes.

Got one in mind actually, so gotta go check on him... mikey
