'Crazy Love' Part I

(Inspired by the Francis Chan's book: Crazy Love)

Crazy Love has to do with our relationship with God

“How many of you have read the New Testament and wondered if we in the Church are missing it?”

Why blame the church? We all need to justify our own actions.

We play the blame game - need to stop giving people excuses not to believe in God.

To begin this journey, we must first address our inaccurate view of God and, consequently, of ourselves.

We forget that God never had an identity crisis.
He knows that He’s great and deserves to be the center of our lives.

He doesn’t need you or me. Yet He wants us, chooses us, even considers us His inheritance
Ephesians 1:18 The greatest knowledge we can ever have is knowing we’re treasured by God.

Most people just want to know what he can do for them rather than desiring to know Him

1 Corinthians 13:2–3 “I have all faith, so as to move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing”.

Wow. Those are strong and unmistakable words. According to God, we are here to love.
Not much else really matters.

Revelation 3 and look at the passage objectively.
God says that the lukewarm will be spit out of His mouth, and that is drastically different than God embracing you and welcoming you into heaven

Luke 12, Jesus tells the parable of the rich fool. There’s this guy who is rich and has an abundance of crops.
He builds bigger barns so that he can store it up. He says, “I have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink, and be merry.” Basically, he’ll retire and enjoy himself, the American dream. God says, “You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you.”

The fact is, I need God to help me love God.

It is a remarkable cycle: Our prayers for more love result in love, which naturally
causes us to pray more, which results in more love…

Universe Video …. Estimatet 350 Billion galaxies in the universe … limited by our limited telescopes.

Did you know …

A caterpillar has 228 separate and distinct muscles in its head alone?
The average Elm tree has 6 Million leaves?
The pressure of the blood pumping through our bodies could squirt it 9 meters?
There are hundreds of different kind of bananas?
There are 3000 different tree species within one square mile in the Amazon?
Spiders produce three kinds of silk? Can create 18 meters of silk in one hour?
Coral plants can die when water temperatures vary by one or two degrees.

Psalm 19:1-4 Gods creation declares his Glory

There is a spiritual amnesia (forgetfulness) in Christians today. No matter how big or how small God displays his greatness …. we forget.
We allow too many distractions to have dominion in our lives.

We have to be intentional and consistent in our daily pursuit of his dominion in our lives.
We get into trouble when we take things for granted. It makes the precious something common.

Our distractions have us loose sight of the fact that we already have everything we need of him.

We have seen the enormous magnificent and how minute and complex God is, but what is He like with me? How is character?

1. God is Holy
“What ever you believe about God, as long as you are sincere it’s OK”
Describe your friend … 200kg Sumo wrestler or 40kg gymnast … you can be sincerely wrong
Exodus 3:14 We don’t get to decide who God is. We don’t change that.
In heaven the throne room is filled with a continues melody of Holy, holy, holy
Is it not great to worship a God we cannot exaggerate?

2. God is eternal
God exists outside of time and since we excist within time, we can never really grasp that concept.
Ps 102:12, 27 you sit on the throne for ever, you remain the same, you will never end.

3. God is all knowing
Isn’t this an intimidating thought?
To some degree or another, each one of us can fool a friend or a family member … but not God.
God knows what you are going to think 35 years from now.
Heb 4:13 Nothing is hidden from God, he knows the thoughts and intentions of our heart.
We cannot escape him, even if we want to.

4. God is all powerful
Col 1:16 everything was created BY him and FOR him, heaven & earth, visible & invisible
Ps 115:3 God does whatever pleases him.
Can you worship a God who is not obligated to explain himself to you?
Could it be your arrogance who thinks that God needs to give you an explanation on everything?

5. God is fair and just
We think of “justice is reward the good / punish the bad”
But it is not up to us to decide what is Good and what is Bad.
Prov 8:13 God hates pride …. Do we decide HOW much God can hate pride? … afterall, we all have a little bit of pride in our lives.
When you have your own Universe, you can decide what is sin and what not … until then HE MAKES THE RULES.
