Love for the world
I struggle with this at times.
I am a gadget guy... I have a fair amount of technology around me. I work with technology on a regular basis. I work with organizations & businesses on technology & how to use it... including churches. And frankly, technology not only can help me connect with God in many different ways. It also can become a hindrance to me as well. I can be on YouVersion, using my Logos Bible software, etc. and checking emails, Twitter, or whatever else starts to becoming a temptation... in the name of staying connected.
Here is what I am learning on this passage... worldliness is not as much as activity as it is an attitude. Worldliness is a matter of the heart.
We are told to be in the world, but not of the world. I cannot let the things of this world, regardless if it is technology or even other good things become our focus. Become our priority in life.
When the things of this world become more of a priority than God does... it not only affects our response to the love of God; it also affects our attitude toward the will of God for our lives.
This goes for worldliness at work, worldliness at school, worldliness even in our families. To me... worldliness are the things that we put before God in our lives.
