Evoking God

Evoking God
Begin by reading the account of Jesus at the Temple in Matthew 21, Mark 11 or Luke 19
* What did Jesus mean when he said, you are turning my house into a den of robbers?
Read Jeremiah 7
* What did did the God of Jeremiah mean when He said, "Has this house, which bears my Name, become a den of robbers to you?"
• Does this mean anything to us today?

Key vs.- Jeremiah. vs. 9-11
Key concept- Jesus was obviously very passionate about His Father's House also called a house of prayer. He was angered to the point of throwing everybody out of church that day. Jesus echoed the strong voice of His Father who is intensely passionate about this issue as well. In fact it provoked Him to a greater display of Holy Wrath than Jesus. From these passages I believe we can glean these truths...
1. God cares a great deal about, is passionate about, and is emotionally tied to anything that bears His Holy name. If He cares this much about the temple and Corporate worship then how much more does he care about the holiness of His children. We bear the name Christian, are we a good image of our Father?
2. (Whose your Daddy) If we declare God as our Father (Christianity as our faith) we must echo His voice. If we do not echo His voice we must question our Paternal Identity.
3. Subjecting ourselves to ANY cultural practices contrary to those endorsed by God is a good way to evoke Holy Anger and even wrath.
