The Wrong Kind of Fear

Jacob's first response was not, "This is wrong, we shouldn't do it!" Instead, he was afraid of what happened if they were caught. He knew his father would be upset.
Too often, we fail to see the results of our sin for what they will be, regardless of if we get away with it or not. It has been my experience that we are eventually caught (Scripture bears this out too - there is pleasure in sin only for a season, and we can always be sure our sins will be exposed eventually).
May we live more in fear of God than in fear of being caught!
