Did He just say Completed?
Jesus has brought glory to the Father by completing the work He gave Him to do. That's an amazing verse that well characterizes the life and death of Christ, but then you realize He is saying this *before* the cross!! What then was the work He was given? There is still the poor and many sick and mistreated people. Many still need to hear the good news. What does he pray about in the next verses? The disciples. It would seem that a key aspect to the work given Him was to disciple these men, pouring His life into them, sharing God's mission and the building of the Kingdom with others who would go and do likewise. If that's not a clarion call to the need for making disciples, I don't know what is. (Thanks LeRoy Eims for pointing out this verse in "The Lost Art of Disciple Making")
