Favoritism, Partiality, Judging People - Bible calls this sin. Cannot say you are a Christian and habitually do these things.
3 inconstancies
1. Partiality is inconsistent with the nature of God. (incompatible)
Receiving someone because they can benefit you. Romans 2:11
Think about Jesus' humble beginnings. Left a throne to be born in a manger. Stepped out of heaven. The demons were the first to recognize him. How did they know him? Born in a feeding trough. He worked very hard, but had no place to lay his head.
We judge people by their past. Talking to friends telling them "I am a preacher" they say "you are WHAT?" We have to quit judging people by their past.
2. Partiality is inconsistent with the grace of God.
1 Corinthians 1:26 - The elect of God are dominated by the poor of the world.
3. Partiality is inconsistent with the Word of God.
If you love your neighbor as yourself, you are doing fine, if you are being partial, you are sinning. Everything that comes out of your mouth, you are going to be judged for. We should be convicted by not taking care of the poor.
2 applications for lesson.
1. Always let scripture be your standard.
2. Let love be your law. Who can you be a neighbor to?
