Via Blueletterbible.org. Verse 13 is especially challenging - "Don't you understand this parable? How then will you understand any parable?" Guzik also points out that often in Israel the soil needs to be plowed after the initial sowing of the seed - the farmer wasn't trying to be wasteful just tossing it anywhere. And yet he (we) don't know the condition of the soil until after the seed is sown; ultimately it's in the fruit.
