Guzik also points out that often in Israel the soil needs to be plowed after the initial sowing of the seed - the farmer wasn't trying to be wasteful just tossing it anywhere. And yet he (we) don't know the condition of the soil until after the seed is sown; ultimately it's in the fruit.
