King Josiah: Repentance, Reconstruction, Restoration

When the Temple was re-opened, Josiah had the ENTIRE law read aloud to all of the people. Then he cleansed the land of ALL the idols and commanded that the people worship the Lord.

This came after he wept in repentance for not obeying the law. God then promised not to take his wrath out on the land for the sins of his ancestors until after he (Josiah) died.

Josiah's righteous repentance saved his people from destruction because he didn't waste any time in repenting for his wrongs. He was more than just sorry - he went back to the law and made things right in his land, including correctly rebuilding and restoring the Temple. I love how he read the ENTIRE law - for us, it's like when we read the Bible from cover to cover at the Real Church anniversary and to start every new year. This is the biblical president for what we do. The Word is what is central and most important to everything my life and my church is founded on.

There is great joy in finding and living in the Law of the Lord and it should bring quick change to our lives.
There is great joy in building God's kingdom and we must get everyone we can involved and help them to find their specific place where they can be effective. Today we don't build a Temple, but we do build a church (not physically) and we carry on the Church that Jesus founded.

What DETESTABLE idols in my life need to be removed?
vs. 31-32: I need to re-up my commitment to God and require the other Christians in my life to do the same.
