Prepped for Action
When the fire department is paged, we always send two trucks - sometimes more. Before anyone gets to the scene - we send two trucks. One reason is so we are prepared and already moving. It is easier, faster, and more efficient to need and use a truck with a crew that is already on the way to the scene and ready for action than it is to call a crew and truck into action that is just sitting at the station. And when that truck and crew on on their way to the scene, they are getting ready, listening to dispatch, listening to the chiefs arriving on scene, focused on what they will be doing when they get there.
In our relationship with Christ, we need to prepare our minds for action. God will more often call the man or woman who is prepared and already moving and ready for action than the man or woman who is dormant. And as we prepare, we need to listen. Listen to God (reading His Word), listen to biblical teaching (church, podcasts, worship music, etc.), and we need to think and focus on what we will be doing and receiving when we ultimately see Jesus.
So...do something. Get off your duff and serve. Read the Bible. Keep your eyes open for that moment when Christ will call you to action. Be ready. It could come at any moment.
