The Christian life is not a life of laziness and presumption but one of action, alertness, energy. It's rolling up my sleeves, putting my mind in gear, being totally ready.
I need to be active, working, serving, watching, expecting. Watching & expecting the return of Christ with anticipation - like a young teen watching out the window expecting her first love to come get her. Watching & expecting God to show me today how I can do His good works and serve others. Watching out for those thoughts, words, and actions that will easily trip me up IF I am not thinking.
The more I watch and expect and am alert to the coming of Christ and to what God has for me to do today - the less likely I will be to become lazy and allow sin to grab my thoughts, my words, my actions. The more I watch and expect and am alert - the more I step forward into a more holier life.
Imagine a day - an entire day - where I rolled up my sleeves, put my mind in gear, and was always totally ready. May that be on the forefront of my mind today.
