Religion our Father accepts

This verse is used so much to exhort believers to serve and love orphans and widows; as it says that is what true religion looks like to the Father. Personally, i recall hearing those points but then the end of the verse is dropped off because the charge is caring for orphans and widows. I fully believe in and support these areas of service in the name of Jesus; it's a charge we're given as believers and followers of Jesus.
But today what struck me the most was how the verse ends and as i looked up some meanings of words, i was challenged to a deeper level.

'Religion that God our Father accepts as pure (free from impurities or adulterants) and faultless (without defect or weakness) is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted (to make morally impure, to make unfit for or harmful to living things) by the world.'

every day we're bombarded with ways that the world wants to pollute our hearts, minds, souls and spirits; from small things to major things. no matter what it looks like though it's harmful to us and inhibits us from walking in purity and faultlessness (not perfection) with our Savior. it means denying myself, sacrifice, not being worried about what others think, discipline. but i truly want Jesus to flow out of every ounce of my being (speech, actions, countenance, etc) and i don't want an ounce of the world to pollute my being! so that i can have intimate, pure and faultless relationship with Him! this is truly my hearts desire!
