Staying Focused
It is known that Solomon was to build the temple and not his father because of the wars and bloodshed that David's reign included. I think another reason that Solomon was able to do such a great thing was his focus. Solomon made political treaties to benefit him and the surrounding countries and he had Benaiah eliminate all of the internal strife in his kingdom. By putting quality leaders in place and removing the distractions, Solomon was able to keep his attention on the Temple.
