Divination

Here is an example of divination being used in The Bible. Having practiced Wicca and neopaganism in the past, I am familiar with these practices and am intrigued that they are documented as being used so long ago. In witchcraft and other "magical" belief systems, the crossroads is a place of power. It also represents decision. Here, we see that Nebuchadnezzar used methods of divination to decide which path to take. He used three methods. One method was the shaking or casting of arrows. The direction the majority pointed would be considered the proper way to go and the way intended by his "gods". Another method was consulting an idol to acquire guidance from the specific "god" prayed to. The third method of divination was practiced by examining an animal's liver to see if the shape or markings could indicate the proper path to take.

What I'd like to point out here is primarily in verse 22. Here The Word says that "Into his right hand will come the lot for Jerusalem,...". This is telling us that God is controlling the decision of Nebuchadnezzar in his attempts to consult his own "gods". In fact, God is in control of every outcome of such an attempt. Still, living in a fallen world, where Satan is allowed control, God may allow him to control the result of such practices (divination). God can use anything to his benefit, but it is worth pointing out that these methods of divination still hold power in the camp of the enemy.

I know first hand that God allows a certain amount of power to be given by Satan and his powers and principalities to work evil in the world. Most people who are practicing neopaganism, witchcraft and "earth-based" religions do not realize the danger they are putting themselves in.

A pastor once preached a sermon about Satan coming as an angel of light. It is said that Lucifer was the most beautiful of angels. This being said, would Satan appeal to my appetite with a rotten fish, or a chocolate cake? The enemy is using very enticing methods these days to draw people into his trap of eternal death. One of those is the promise of personal power through these extremely appealing belief systems that promise personal power to those who practice them. Still, God is in control as we can plainly see here. In the end, there is only One True Power, and that is God Almighty.
