God Knowable...
How strange it must've been to hear that God, the unknown God who was worshipped somehow could be known! What a foreign concept. Gods could be appeased, pleased, angered, coerced...controlled, but not known. How could you know something that did not exist? How could you know something that was impersonal, though personified? How could you really enter into relationship with something that you could not see?
Then Paul the Apostle shows up and tells you that God, the true God who made the earth and sea and all that is in them could be known personally! This is clearly the grand distinction between the truth and all other lies! God is. God alone is. God can be known by the very men that He created!
Now admittedly, this true God is a whole lot more difficult to "deal" with! Wouldn't it be great to simply be able to appease your god with some fruit and incense and a few bucks! But our God is a consuming fire and cannot be bought, bribed, controlled...He is to be awed and revered! He is holy and wants our very all because He alone deserves it!
We owe him the very breath of our lungs and the life of our souls! To get to know Him though...incredible! Yes he is to be feared...there is No one or Nothing like Him! It is only Him that we'll one day have to deal with! But, to know Him!
Jesus said to know Him is eternal life! He said it to living people so he means that eternal life is something that we can enjoy and experience today! So, Father thank you that you are True and powerful and holy and loving and good and patient and all that you are...
but thank you today most of all that you are knowable! Let me worship you rightly and acceptably in real communion and relationship! May this day be filled with the knowledge of You! Let me know you more.
