Perfect Soundness

Acts 3:16 And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

This man who had been crippled all his life was now given perfect soundness through faith in Jesus Christ. Perfect soundness is what I long for but what is perfect soundness to me and when do I reflect it to others? Is it when my “to do list” is done? Is it when all things are in order and I am relaxed and not stressed out?

My wife and I packed last night to go see her family in North Carolina for Thanksgiving. We also washed our puppies last night so that they would be clean for a long weekend. My plans were to wake up this morning, take the dogs out, feed them, take the dogs out again, and then hit the road by 5:30am, 6:00am at the latest. Sounds like a perfect plan to me! But things did not go as smoothly as planned. One of the puppies had an accident and needed another bath. It was not the perfect start to the Thanksgiving I had planned. Even though the accident was my fault I know the puppies and my wife did not see perfect soundness reflecting from me.

The people who saw this man healed saw perfect soundness in what Christ had done in him. Forgive me, Lord, for not having perfect soundness in You! Please let me have that extra measure of faith to trust You and reflect You when things don’t go according to my plans.
