Salvation By History
Here the prophet John counsels the Pharisees to repent now and not just rely on there connection to the past for their salvation. The Pharisees thought them selfs to be "OK" because they were children of Abraham. In their own minds also law keepers. However they did not bear any evidence in their own life that God was working in it. How often as Christians do we do the same. We are not concerned by the fruit we bare but by what happed in the past to show we are "saved".
