Quotation Deuteronomy 8:3
Take some time to read Deuteronomy 8. Satan had come to tempt Christ, trying to get him to turn away from God and worship him. After reading Deuteronomy 8:3 pay close attention to Deuteronomy 8:11-20. See the greater context the verse in context brings to Christs argument. Christ application of this text is greater when taken in the context of the verse from which it comes. Later Satan tries to quote scripture more like people do where it makes no sense when taken in its context. Here however Christ quotes a verse that points to the reason he was wondering in the wilderness, the lesson to be learned. That was to trust God for everything and do not turn away from him or worship other Gods. These were the very temptations Satan had come with.
