open door & opposition

8 But I will stay on at Ephesus until Pentecost,9 because a great door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many who oppose me. (NIV)

What amazes me about this verse is the combination of the open door for ministry and the opposition that goes with it. So many times we just want to seek or have a ministry without any complications, hardships or struggle. We want a smooth ministry without problems....forgetting that the enemy is out there and will seek ways to make it difficult for us here...especially if we are involve in the Lord's work. We need to expect opposition in our ministry...it is normal. Let us serve the Lord with a joyful heart whatever the difficult circumstances or people who oppose us.
