Good Discouragement
Paul was a man who was rarely stopped by anything or anyone! About the only thing that ever stopped Paul was the Holy Spirit or a bunch of rocks! Here in Acts 19 Paul the fearless opporunist looked on at a massive crowd and must've thought, "man what an open door - a captive and life audience, and they are concerned about spiritual things - what a great opporunity to speak the gospel of life!" It appeared to Paul, though dangerous, a God idea! Thankfully for Paul, he had friends and other disciples who spoke seemingly sound words to deter him from what seemed like a good idea and helped him see that it really wasn't after all a God idea. This morning Father i thank you for those friends who have given me the right kind of discouragement! The kind that is wise and loving and so needed. What have i been spared from because of the good counsel of good friends? How much could've been lost if i hadn't those good friends and kind words? thank you God for those who love us enough to deter us even from good things
