An Anchor for the Soul
Close to a year and a half ago, I made the difficult decision to move my family across the world from Australia to the USA. It was a daunting move to say the least, a church plant, with limited finances, a half salary, and no means for my wife to work. I had a great deal of concerns, how would we survive, where would the money come from, what would Carly do.
To compound the concerns, we were moving from a large metropolitan City to a small country town in the middle of the desert. I had been dealing with some anxiety issues, which seemed to manifest on large moves. Leaving a church you love and moving to one you know very little about is scary, but when God seems to be leading your life there, you follow.
I read this very during my second week in the United States, I had arrived, my wife was 4 weeks off arrival. Sitting in my bedroom with a world of concerns, I was reminded that Christ is my anchor for my soul, firm and secure he will not fail me. God keeps his promises always, our high priest who loves us dearly knows us, our worries and concerns.
From that day I remember turning my concerns to Jesus, and electing to praise him for the great things he had done, for he is my anchor firm and secure. In him my soul is steady and unconcerned.
