One of Those Days When Everything Goes Off the Rails
Job lived a life devoted and pleasing to God. God had protected and blessed him. Satan says it's because he's lived a protected and blessed life, and tries to get Job to curse God by messing up his perfect life. Why wouldn't he be devoted to God when everything is going so well?
Not that I'm anywhere close to perfect, or as blessed as Job, but... When I have one of those days, weeks or months when nothing seems to be going right, is it possible Satan has had this conversation with God about me? Is he throwing everything at us to get me to curse God, to abandon my faith? Is my faith rooted in what God does for me, or in whom God is?
Lord, may I have the patience and steadfastness that Job displays, and faith that can endure the storms of life, whether those are merely consequences of my decisions or actions, or from Satan trying to shake my faith in You.
