Wedding Dress
Jesus, is the bridegroom and we are the bride. We are the one's that he has come for. As I contemplated this thought I reflected on my time working in the wedding industry (After Hours Formal Wear), and I remember all the fuss that people would make about getting their look just right for their "Big" day. I think about the brides that got so worked up about how they didn't like this or like that, but occasionally I would find a bride that didn't care about all that she was just consumed with her future husband, not the trappings of the ceremony. The brides that were consumed with love for their groom were far more beautiful than the ones that fussed and argued over meaningless details.
I know that girls start planning their weddings when they are little girls, and they look forward to their prince and that day, but for us as believers are we spending more time arguing about the trappings of our faith than absolutely being consumed with love for our Prince of Peace. When Jesus lifts the vale of his church what will he find, the glow of love and the fragrance of deep adoration or scars, warts, and stench of our infighting, apathy, and pride. The fact that Jesus calls us to be His bride is overwhelming enough. What will you look like for your groom? Have you prepared yourself for "that" day?
