So it seems, from Paul's perspective, that as we walk close to Jesus we, in a sense, walk away from the law. We enter a place where life isn't about what we can't do, but about what we can do. It's not about avoiding the wrong thing, but about desiring the good thing. It's not about staying clean, it's about becoming virtuous. I can definitely see how someone whose life is committed to the teachings of Chirst - "filled with love," as Paul says in 1 Timothy 1:5 - wouldn't spend much time thinking about how to skirt the law.
