MARVELOUS LIGHT

God is light! John was so caught up with this concept that he started both His gospel and 1 John with Jesus being the light of the world and the light of men. So many glorious parallels come to mind when it comes to the way in which light functions with our daily lives and the nature of Jesus. Rather than drawing parallel I just meditated uon the truth that God is light...He is not like a light but His very nature is light...pure undefiled, unhindered light. Matthew tells us that one day Peter, James and John went to a high mountain by themselves and Jesus was transfigured before them "His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light." John tells us in the book of revelation that In the new Jerusalem that "there will be no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light." He not like a light...He literally is LIGHT. Talk about WONDERFUL....So powerful, so unsearchable, so mysterious....so GOD!!! Then to condense those truths down to think that He loves me and desires for me to walk and live in the light of who He is. Peter goes on to tell us that we are "a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, his own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you our of darkness into His marvelous light." Peter a fisherman using an adjective like marvelous.....I can't help but wonder if he was taken back to his time on the mount with Jesus, somehow envisioning Him "the Light of the World" calling to us to leave our dark nature, dark ways and come to Him and live in Him....in the Marvelous light!!!
Oh Lord you are too marvelous for words. You are truly WONDERFUL! Light of the World shine upon me. "My dead heart now is beating, my deepest stains now clean, Your breath fills up my lungs and now I'm free, now I'm free....lift my hands and spin around, see the light that I have found..the MARVELOUS LIGHT, THE MARVELOUS LIGHT"
