Bones as Faith

From The Treasury of David: "The term 'bones' is sometimes applied literally to our blessed Lord's human body, to the body which hung upon the cross. In some passages it is applied to the soul and not to the body, to the inner man of the individual Christian. Then it implies the strength and fortitude of the soul, the determined courage which faith in God gives to the righteous. This is the sense in which it is used in the second verse of this Psalm."

Interesting, because it changes my reading of the verse *not* to mean that the psalmist is in physically agony, but rather that his faith and strength in God is [in KJV a better translation: vexed].
