“The Length of His Strength” Poem
I just posted a poem written by a good friend James Hayes. This is the poem I meant to post in reference to Psalm 19. James has a blog called the breadline and adds a poem a day. I thought I would post them here.
“The Length of His Strength”
The glory of God the heavens declare
The firmament showeth His hand everywhere
Day after day uttereth speech
The stars in the night too high too reach
No language or speech voice or known tongue
Leave’s God’s awesome glory in creation unsung
Throughout all the earth and the entire world
His majesty reigns supremely unfurled
In them He’s set up a house for the sun
As a bridegroom coming with a race to be run
His route spans the heavens clear out to the ends
And nothing is hid from the heat that He sends
The Lord’s laws are perfect converting the soul
His Gospel is pure to make the wise whole
There’s joy in my heart for His statutes are right
His commandments are sure and they give my eyes light
The fear of the Lord is clean and forever
His judgments are sure in every endeavor
They’re finer than gold and sweeter than honey
They never grow old and they’re better than money
By them Thy servant is afforded right warning
And he who keeps them is rewarded by morning
Who can tell why his heart it doth error
Cleanse me inside keep me from terror
Keep me back Lord from the sins of the heart
With Your Holy Word let every day start
Let not the foul pride of life have its way
Come fill me inside and lead me each day
Let the words of my mouth and my hearts meditations
Be worthy of You in all situations
You paid a great price you went the whole length
You are my Redeemer and You are my Strength
(Psalm 19)
