Looking for healing, finding Jesus

Scripture: Mark 5:24-34: Hemorrhaging Women
“Jesus went with him, and the crowd thronged behind. And there was a woman in the crowd who had had a hemorrhage for twelve years.”
• Sick for 12 years. She has been hurting and empty for a long time. Life for her has not been full.
“She had suffered a great deal from many doctors through the years and had spent everything she had to pay them, but she had gotten no better.”
• MANY DOCTORS – she was hurting and new it. She wanted to get better so she want to folks she thought would help. Isn’t this like us. We knew life wasn’t quite right, that we weren’t 100% health and we’ve went to many doctors looking for healing: success, stuff and other people. Yet none of them have satisfied the hole in our heart.
• SPENT EVERYTHING – she spent everything on them. I know I spent all that I had in the pursuit of full life – hours playing basketball, money on cars, even good friends at the cost of “better” ones.
“She had gotten no better. In fact, she got worse.”
• GOT WORSE – some of the things not only don’t work, they leave us worse than we started.
o Sport or Grades – putting all our time and energy into them, just to get injured or cut or to not make the grade
o Girl and Boyfriends – only to break your heart
o Sex, drinking and drugs – you know what can go wrong there
“She had heard about Jesus, so she came up behind him through the crowd and touched the fringe of his robe. For she thought to herself, “if I can just touch his clothing, I will be healed.”
• When everything else failed. When all her resources were gone. There was no money left for doctors and no energy left for anything else. She goes to Jesus. Thinking maybe if I can touch him. I’ll be healed.
• Have you ran out of options? Have you tried everything else? Is it time to go to Jesus?
“Immediately the bleeding stopped, and she could feel that she had been healed!”
• Immediately she was healed. She was made whole. She was more of who she was created to be.
“Jesus realized at once the healing power had gone out from him, so he turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?”
“His disciples said to him, “All this crowd is pressing around you. How can you ask, “Who touched me?”
“But he kept on looking around to see who had done it. Then the frightened woman, trembling at the realization of what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and told him what she had done.”
• HER WHOLE STORY – Jesus listens to her story. God cares about your story. He cares about your pain, your parents divorce, the issue with your best friend…God cares about you…and he wants to listen to your story.
And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace. You have been healed.”
• DAUGHTER – she is not his biological daughter, but because of her faith she has become his spiritual daughter and she is in the family of God.
• HEALED – she was healed. She came to Jesus broken, sick, hurting, lonely, desperate and without hope. She has an encounter with Jesus and she has been made whole.
She had lived her entire life without God, looking for things that would heal the hurt inside her and nothing worked. She met Jesus and everything changed. She found the one person who could heal her. She found Jesus.
