“I Wish”

I wish I were a piece of gold

So shiny and so fine

Treated better than where I used to live

In a dark and muddy mine

I wish I were an eagle

Soaring through the sky

Seeking out my prey

With my A-1 eagle eye

I wish I were a sunbeam

Shining out through space

And coming down and warming

A sweet and gentle face

I wish I were a singer

That I could sing a song

Its words would make you happy

And its wisdom make you strong

I wish you could see clearly

How much we could set right

You know I love you dearly

Let me lead you to the light

I wish you knew my Father

I wish you could be won

You wonder why I bother
So you might know the Son
