19. Nevertheless. In spite of all the failures of men, the foundation of God standeth sure. This foundation is referred to in I Corinthians 3:11. It is Christ. Build on Him and there will be no defection, no apostasy. Remember, “they went out because they weren’t of us” (I Jn 2:19). Knoweth. He surely does. About His sheep He said, “I know them … and they shall never perish” (Jn 10:27–28). To the lost he said, “I never knew you: depart from me …” (Mt 7:23). These were not sheep who once had departed. Depart from iniquity. This security never means one can live like the devil. In fact, one who appreciates his salvation never attempts to take advantage of it.
