Don't Love the World
By focusing on the world, all it's pleasures and pains, we focus less on God. We need to focus on God through not only the hard times, but the good times as well. We can not want the things in this world above God, otherwise, we will slowly remove Him from our lives. What are the things of this world? The Message translation lists three things (1 John 2:16): 1. Wanting your own way, 2. Wanting everything for yourself, 3. Wanting to appear important. These things can only be avoided by being a servent.
