Everlasting Father
This title often confuses people but it shouldn't. It is an idiom. There are many idioms in the Bible. Consider the phrase "a land flowing with milk and honey." Obviously, the picture is that of a fertile land. Or take Pharaoh having "stiffened his neck." It doesn't mean he needs a chiropractor but that he was stubborn. "Everlasting Father" describes Jesus' relationship to us. Jesus will be the great care giver of our soul, our life, our dreams, our hurts and our despair. Unlike so many relationships we experience in life, His will be eternal. He will not walk out on us. He will not turn His back on us. He will never leave us or forsake us. He will save, shepherd, guard and protect us forever. Now, that's what I call an Everlasting Father!
