Intrigue
It always widens my eye thinking of the possibilities of Genesis 1. The idea that the beginning and end of everything can be found in those pages. I TOTALLY believe this. If we had the eyes of Jesus, perhaps we'd see that beauty and wisdom. Perhaps He'll show us when we meet our resurrection bodies. But we'll probably just GET IT then. ;-)
I've read and re-read GEN 1 over and over looking for structural flags that could be attached to prophecy. They're there. That's for sure. But thankfully we have people like Chuck Missler to do the big lifting and show us the way. For example, you could hypothesize that the Rapture will be on a Friday. The last week we're here on Earth would culminate with us meeting the Lord (FINALLY! HALLELUJAH!). The following day (Saturday) would be the day of rest and celebration of His coming.
These are the types of things I do when reading the scriptures. Being a sci-fi author, my mind refuses to not put my own spin on things. I always try to read through the Spirit and not the mind so... hopefully... I'm getting some things right.
