Jesus is Immanuel?

So why is it that this first chapter of Matthew doesn't say Jesus was the Christ or the savior or anything. Also Matthew 1:23 makes mention of Isaiah 7 but that chapter seemingly has nothing to do w/ Jesus. Unless there is some deep philosophical hidden meaning, but Isaiah 7 doesn't seem to mean that as a long term prophecy but rather short term and quick resolving.
