Bring Honor To Gideon, Bring Honor To God

Throughout Gideon's lifetime (once the Midianites were defeated) Israel honored God. I find it interesting that immediately upon Gideon's death that the Israelites would completely turn from honoring God to worshipping an idol.

What happened?
Maybe the only relationship Israel had with God was through the faith of Gideon.

Whatever the case may be, we can clearly see that the while alive, the Israelites honored Gideon and therefore were able to honor God, but once Gideon was gone the Israelites dishonored Gideon by dishonoring God.
