Obedience Or Expectation

I've recently come into a large valley of life and have concluded that I'm here due to my own faulted foundation. Many decisions we make have the right action, but the wrong motivation. Sometimes we hear and do God's will, but with the wrong motivation. If we are following God's direction expecting a blessing in return, we very well may find ourselves heavily disappointed and in a vulnerable position to become bitter at God. To be surrendered is to be vulnerable and accepting to what ever God has for you, regardless of the return. As Cain brought his offering, the Lord saw the heart. It's apparent that Cain's heart was not pure before the Lord or the Lord wouldn't of warned him about the sin that was at the door of his heart. Was it jealousy toward Abel? Perhaps he was trying to dictate what was a reasonable sacrifice to God? Whichever the case, we should examine the motives of our hearts and be willing to surrender all.
