God's Mark

While reading about Cain and Abel - I wondered what kind of mark God put upon Cain to signify that he was not to be killed lest anything happen to that person? What does that mark look like? Was it huge? Was it discolored? Was it on his forward? Did his wife get scared of the mark?

Just thinking out loud here & wondering what it looked like. Perhaps that's a question for heaven.
