This chapter of Daniel just further separates God from us in all realms. He is omniscient and omnipotent -- yet we question and doubt him daily-- and we wonder why we struggle, ironically.
Daniel saved his life and all of the wisemen of Babylon because of two simple words (that daily I fail to make real in my life): trust and faith. He believed and trusted in the wisdom and power of the Lord, not only to interpret the dream, but to tell him the dream of another man!!! Let me repeat that in case you don't realize how amazing that is, he told Daniel the King's dream and theeeen interpreted it!
Then Daniel praises the Lord in great fashion, reminded me of the Psalms of David -- but my favorite line of Daniel's was in verse 20, "wisdom and power are HIS." Just like Solomon realized earlier in the Bible God is wisdom... he can provide us with wisdom and knowledge faaaar greater than our own. He will "reveal hidden things," things that would seem impossible to be revealed. What Daniel said in verse 23 also reminded me of 1 John, God being light and yet still knowing what lies in the darkness. It reminded me also of what Pastor Kenny had been saying about the reality of their being an enemy -- there is darkness, but it is revealed by the light and we can overcome it.
And finally, Daniel didn't cease to amaze me with his simple faith. His humility was amazing. He took NO credit for what he did. When Nebuchadnezzar asked him if he could tell and interpret his dream he says there is NO wiseman in all the world, only the one true God that could do such a thing. :)
Dear Lord, help me live my life like Daniel, with faith, trust and humility. Too often I try to do things on my own, too often I try to control every little thing about my life, too often I try to lean on my own understanding -- help me realize that you are the source of all strength and wisdom and that you alone control all things. Daily I should remember what you say in Psalm 68;19, "Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens." Lord let me let go. Like it says in Phil Wickham's song, "The time is now for letting go." Lord let me not rejoice in the praise of men, or take credit for that which I did not do or wisdom which is not my own -- let the glory and praise always be to you!
