God's masterpiece

For we are God’s masterpiece He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10 (New Living Translation)
There is a form of revival that involves restoration and as an example of this I would like to use a familiar illustration, the restoration of a work of art. With the passing of time the vibrant colours and the detail of the painting are hidden under a coating of grime but after skilled cleaning it is a wonderful thing when it is restored to its original condition. The most important thing that we should draw from this illustration is that “cleansing” is involved in restoration.
Christ in us is the masterpiece; we are just the canvas and the frame. It is The Lord Jesus Christ “seen in us” that is the important reality. The masterpiece is restored when The Lord Jesus Christ is restored too full view on the canvas of our lives. How do we become more Christ-like? It does not happen by accident, and it does not happen by force. God does not take away our free will and force us to change. Rather, we must turn to him and seek him.
