Looking Back
Lot's wife looked back. Back to what? Regardless of what was behind, GOD's plan was to take her somewhere with a promise and a future. The fact is, Lot's wife looked back and died. Looking back brought a life to an end. Think of the lives affected by her decision to focus on what was behind. Lot lost a wife. Lot's daughters lost a mother. Looking back stifled Lot's future. Looking back stifled the future of Lot's daughters.
Looking back...what exactly does it look like. You may be feeling you've seen your best years. You may thinking you're on your way down hill. Those were the days. It can't get any better than yesteryear. The preaching used to be... The worship used to... I remember when the church would...
There's no doubt that the times have changed. In some areas, times have changed for the worst. But I like to cling to GOD's words for the present and future. The prophet Haggai states, 'The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,' says the LORD Almighty. 'And in this place I will grant peace,' declares the LORD Almighty." The old days of "having church" were great. But, walking forward and looking back will stifle what GOD is wanting to do with your present and future.
Let's be practical, you don't drive a car with your eyes on the rear windshield. You look through the front windshield. Where you've been doesn't determine where you're going. Where you're going is based upon GOD's design for your life, AND you're willingness to comply with his design. Stop looking behind and start looking through GOD's windshield (His Word) for your next step. Like Lot, his wife, and their daughters, GOD has a promise, a plan, and future for you. Listen and Follow.
