As One with Authority
John 2:16 And He said to those who sold doves, “Take these things away! Do not make My Father’s house a house of merchandise!” 17 Then His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for Your house has eaten Me up.”
Matthew 7:28 And so it was, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that the people were astonished at His teaching, 29 for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
Jesus was not apologetic for the things He said and did. He knew God; He knew God's Word. What He said and did was always and only from His Father. And so He did it with authority, the authority of God.
I second guess my decisions 95% of the time. Why is that? Perhaps because I am relying on my own understanding in the decisions I make. I am in Christ, and the Father is in me... and God's word speaks to all the issues of life.
Lord, help me to not only know Your word and believe it, but to embrace the power of it. I love You in all of Your glorious authority. As Your child, help me to be an imitator of You, and walk in the gentle authority of Your Word.
