Dust
"Dust you will eat." God condemned the serpent with those words, among others. This phrase struck out at me (as a serpent would) as I was reading the text. Dust...God had just formed man from the "dust of the earth." Now the serpent will be eating dust.
I don't know if this is accurate or not, maybe an insight I have missed before, or maybe I am reading something into the text that is not there, but it seems, in this specific part of the text, not to mention the following context, as if the serpent, Satan, is being told by God he will always be our enemy, and we will always be what he desires, or his food.
Again, I don't know if it's right, I will have to do some research, but just a thought I had today as I started my new Bible reading program.
I welcome any comments, questions or feedback.
