A relationship to die for

Adam and Eve had everything. The best that this world has to offer isn't something we are searching for - it is what was in the garden. Man thinks in terms of "if I had this or that then life would be better." Yet, has life been any better than what it was in that garden? Humanism is the belief that we can do things better than God. The center of this belief is rooted in self promotion.
Yet, God created us for relationship. All of the knowledge we could ever want or need is found in our relationship with Him. It is a classic duel: Relationship or the pursuit of earthly promotion. Isn't it ironic that the apostles moved in the kingdom of God simply because they walked in an assurance of their relationship and faith. Maybe what we really need is not "more" but less. Maybe what we need is what the children of Israel needed when they came out of Egypt. They were delivered from the taskmaster but not of Egypt. What would my life, my city, and nation be like if we untangled our lives and committed to our relationship(s). Hmmm.
