Did Abram Have A Spiritual Mentor?

Many people feel that genealogies or "the begets" are boring. But there is much to be learned from Genesis 5 and Genesis 11.

If Adam was 130 when this third son, Seth was born, I wonder how many years he and Eve spent in the garden before they sinned. Can you just imagine what it would have been like? If Enoch and Noah walked with God I am sure that Adam did too, especially before he sinned. What would those walks have been like. Is it possible that Enoch heard these stories from Adam himself, making him hungry enough to begin walking with God at age 65?

Do you realize that Noah's father, Lemech, was 56 when Adam died? It is possible that Lemech sat at Adam's feet and took in all of the stories of God's awesomeness and what it was like to be in the pure presence of God.

If this were so, which it is very possible, Lemech would have passed these same stories down to Noah. Although there were ten generations that separated them, Adam still could have been an influencer to Noah. Noah was just and perfect. He was influenced somehow.

Therefore, it is possible that Abram, before he left for the promised land, could have also been influenced by Adam's stories, only third hand. Abram was 58 when Noah died. Although it would seem that Abram came from a land of idols and a family of idols, yet he was special enough to have been called by God. Would it be because he thrived on the stories that Noah told which his father told of Adam's life with God?

Folks, it is very possible. Twenty generations away and 1,948 years it is very possible that Adam's stories of what it was once like in the pure presence of God stirred the hunger in young Abram's heart.

Who are you influencing with your stories of God's presence?
