Error in Translation

It has been a great controversy with various bible scholars as the lineage of Yeshua. As with most genealogies, the bloodline went through the father and son's. However, we see that this scriptures states that Joseph, the husband of Mary, is included in the lineage. However that would not make Yeshua a direct descendant of King David as prophesied in the Old Testament. Also, according to verse 17 it states that there are 14 generations between the captivity of Babylon to the birth of the Messiah; however, if you count there is only 13 generations as written in verse 16.

However, we have recently acquired an Aramaic to English* bible translation of the New Testament (over and found that Joseph is not the husband of Mary, but the FATHER of Mary. The name was very common in that day. With realizing that Joseph was the Father of Mary, but issues have been resolved. That makes Yeshua a direct descendant of King David, fulfilling prophesy, and completing 14 generations as stated in verse 17.

Blessings in Messiah!

*The Aramaic text is derived from the most ancient Aramaic sources within the family of Eastern Peshitta texts (including the Khabouris Codex), the most ancient readings are restored in the Aramaic and then translated into English.
