Grace and Law do not mix

Grace operates in our lives when we exercise faith. Grace is not automatic ~ it is ‘by faith through grace’. In the following verses we can see that the grace of God can be received ‘in vain’ or it can be ‘set aside’. To fall from grace has more to do with reverting to the struggle of keeping the law in our own strength than it ever has to do with committing sin.

We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. 2 Corinthians 6:1 (NKJV)

I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing! Galatians 2:21 (NIV)

It is a powerful and liberating revelation to understand by faith that God’s grace and mercy are poured out to set us free, not just to cover our weakness. His focus is not on our failure but on His own ability to lift us up and change us. He desires that we turn away from our religious (or legalistic) concepts of grace to see clearly that there is tremendous power in His grace {supply}. Receiving this truth by faith, releases His help in the way that He intended. Not struggling in our own strength but trusting in His Word and yielding to the power of the Holy Spirit enables us to live in victory and supply.
