Entrust
Entrust and teach, these two words stand out the most when I read this scripture, from Paul to Timothy. Timothy being a disciple of Paul would read these words and see that his mentor and teacher suggests that what Paul has told Timothy is not just for Timothy's ears only meaning that Paul fully expects Timothy to share with others. "Entrust these to faithful men." Paul with this language impresses upon Timothy the importance of giving the truth to others, others that are appropriately equipped with the ability to teach others. It's basically a web. Basically Paul says teach others that will be able to teach others that will be able to teach others, and the system keeps going and going. Why? So that people everywhere will hear the truth and believe. So that every ear has the opportunity to hear... and every heart has the opportunity to respond. Thus Paul continues to reinforce the necessity of discipleship in the Christian faith.
As I read this scripture, as a Christian I realize that one of the most important aspects to my faith is to continue to entrust what God has given me in wisdom to others, others that will continue to share the truth of the Good News, Jesus Christ. I must entrust and teach others, therefore I will.
