The work of John
Isaiah's prophetic description of the forerunner is seen in the life of John. John's message of repentance was bold, laced with redemption. Repentance is the door to humility. God is looking for humble people to work with HIm in a new Kingdom. Israel failed coming out of Egypt because they lacked humility. A generation that is humble before God will see greater works of the Spirit than a generation of giftings.
John's ministry ended as a martyr but his life marked the entry of a new order. A return to God dwelling with man. What about our generation? Are we willing to preach the gospel without fear from religious persecution or government pressures? What will we do to rescue those sitting in darkness? Crooked places, high valleys, and low paths can be made straight. We simply need to submit and apply.
